The board of trustees of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, has awarded tenure to six faculty members. Four of those awarded tenure are women.
Katherine Brown is an associated professor of physics. She joined the faculty at the college in 2014 after holding visiting faculty positions at Oberlin College in Ohio and Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Brown is a graduate of the University of New Mexico. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Courtney Gibbons is an associate professor of mathematics. Her research focuses on commutative algebra. Dr. Gibbons joined the faculty at Hamilton College in 2013. A Connecticut native, Gibbons graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Colorado College in 2006. Dr.. Gibbons holds a master’ degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Gbemende Johnson is an associate professor of government at Hamilton College. Dr. Johnson’s research explores the litigation of executive privilege in the federal courts. She joined the faculty at the college in 2012. Dr. Johnson is a summa cum laude graduate of Georgia State University, where she majored in political science. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Alexandra List is an associate professor of psychology and chair of neuroscience programs at the college. Dr. List joined the faculty in 2013. Her research focuses on understanding how we perceive and attend to visual, auditory and haptic information in our environment. Dr. List earned a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.
