Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointments of Seven Women to Dean Positions

Mary Ann Krogh has been named dean of the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. She currently serves as dean of nursing and health sciences at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.

Dr. Krogh holds a bachelor’s degree and doctorate from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Priscilla Elsass has been named dean of the Graduate School of Management at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She has served in numerous academic and leadership roles at the university over the past 25 years, most recently as interim dean.

Dr. Elsass holds a bachelor’s degree and master of professional studies degree both from Cornell University, and an MBA and Ph.D. both from the University of Connecticut.

Nicola Boothe Perry has been named interim dean of the College of Law at Florida A&M University. She currently serves as associate dean of academic affairs and professor at the law school.

Professor Perry is a graduate of the University of Florida. She holds a juris doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law.

Ana Gaillat has been named dean of academic affairs at Vermont Technical College. She previously served as associate vice president of academic affairs at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Dr. Gaillat holds a master’s degree in higher education from Suffolk University in Boston and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Peggy Shannon has been name dean of the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University. She currently serves as a professor and chair of the School of Performance at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, where she has served since 2011.

Dr. Shannon holds a master of fine arts degree in theatre directing from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in drama and theatre from the Royal Holloway University of London.

Sarah Whiting has been named dean of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She is the first woman to hold the post. Dr. Whiting currently serves as dean of the School of Architecture at Rice University in Houston.

Dr. Whiting is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master’s degree from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in architectural history, theory, and criticism from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lise Youngblade had been named dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University. She currently serves as head of the university’s department of human development and family studies and as associate dean for strategic initiatives.

Dr. Youngblade is a graduate of the University of Oregon where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both in human development and family studies from Pennsylvania State University.
