Marcia Johnson Wins the 2019 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science

Marcia Johnson, Sterling Professor Emerita of Psychology at Yale University, has won the 2019 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science from the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia. She is honored for “developing innovative models of human memory with application in psychology, brain science, human development, and our understanding of the malleability of memory in real-world settings.”

Dr. Johnson began teaching at Yale in 2000. She was designated the honor of professor emerita in 2017. Earlier in her career, she had served as a professor at Princeton University and Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System. She also was a visiting scientist at the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Ph.D. in experimental psychology both from the University of California, Berkeley.
