New Posts for Ten Women in Higher Education Administration

Lisa Wilkes has been named vice president for business affairs at Virginia Tech. She has over 23 years of experience working at Virginia Tech, most recently as interim vice president for human resources.

Dr. Wilkes holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Radford University in Virginia and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.

Kimberly Allain has been named associate vice president for employee and organizational development and advancement in the Division of Administrative Affairs at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She was the director of employee and organizational development at the University of California, Riverside.

Allain holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA in organizational leadership from Brandman University in Irvine, California.

Shawnta Friday-Stroud has been named vice president of university advancement at Florida A&M University. She had been serving in that role on an interim basis and was the former dean of the School of Business and Industry.

Dr. Friday-Stroud holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Florida A&M University and a Ph.D. in business administration from Florida International University.

Jennifer Edwards has been named deputy director of the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health at Pennsylvania State University. She served as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force where she spent 12 years as a medical service corps officer in health care administration.

Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree in business and human resource management and an MBA in finance and management both from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.

Leslie T. Annexstein has been named Title IX director at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was deputy director of the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct at the University of Maryland.

Annexstein holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and a juris doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

Julia Letlow has been appointed executive director of external affairs and strategic communications at the University of Louisiana Monroe. She was the university’s director of marketing and communications.

Dr. Letlow holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree both in speech communication from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of South Florida.

Mireya “Carolina” Cudemus has been named director of design and construction management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Facilities and Campus Services. She was a design and construction management professional with Gilbane Building Company.

Cudemus holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, and an MBA in organizational management from the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Kimberly Russell has been named vice president for university advancement at Texas Woman’s University. She was chancellor of Louisiana State University’s Eunice campus.

Dr. Russell holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Tyler and a master’s degree in English and a doctorate in higher education and economics from the University of North Texas.

Karen Davis has been appointed interim assistant dean for inclusive excellence in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York. She has been serving as the director of career services for the college since 2004.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communications and management and an MBA in information systems both from Syracuse University.

Pamela Lewis has been named assistant vice president for strategic advancement systems at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She was the university’s director of research and prospect management.

Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from New Mexico State University and a master of public administration degree from George Mason University.
