Gannon University Professor Wins the 2017 John Ciardi Prize for Poetry

Berwyn J. Moore, a professor of English at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, is the winner of the 2017 John Ciardi Prize for Poetry presented by BkMk Press at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The press was founded in 1971 and in 1983 became affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences at the university.

Professor Moore was honored for her manuscript Sweet Herbaceous Miracle, a collection of poetry. The book will be published by BkMk Press.

Professor Moore has taught at Gannon University for 32 years. She is the author of the poetry collections Dissolution of Ghosts (Cherry Grove Collections, 2005) and O Body Swayed (Cherry Grove Collections, 2009).

Professor Moore has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize on two occasions. From 2009 to 2010, she served as poet laureate of Erie County, Pennsylvania.
