Eight Women Faculty Members Awarded Tenure at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst

umasslogoThe University of Massachusetts at Amherst has announced the granting of tenure to 23 faculty members. Eight of these tenure awards went to women.

ADEoliveiraAngela De Oliveira is an associate professor of resource economics. She joined the faculty at the university in 2009. Dr. De Oliveira is a magna cum laude graduate of Auburn University in Alabama, where she majored in business administration. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Julie_GoddardJulie M. Goddard is an associate professor of food science. She joined the faculty in 2009 after serving as a postdoctoral associate in the department of mechanical engineering at Cornell University. Dr. Goddard holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a Ph.D. in food science and technology from Cornell University.

Kathryn Lachman is an associate professor of French and Francophone studies. She is the author of Borrowed Forms: The Music and Ethics of Transnational Fiction (Liverpool University Press, 2014). Dr. Lachman holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale University. She earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University.

lisa_minterLisa Minter is an associate professor of veterinary and animal science. She also serves as director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility at the university. Her research is focused on the immune system. Dr. Minter earned a Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts.

Katherine_ReevesKatherine W. Reeves is an associate professor of biostatistics and epidemiology. Her research is focused on breast cancer. Dr. Reeves is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master of public health degree from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Eve VogelEve Vogel is an associate professor of geosciences. Her research is focused on the human-environmental dynamics and histories of rivers. Dr. Vogel is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in environmental biology. She holds a master’s degree from Portland State University in Oregon and a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Oregon.

whitcombSara Whitcomb is an associate professor of student development in the College of Education. She focuses on mental health promotion and positive behavioral support systems in schools. Dr. Whitcomb is a graduate of Boston College. She holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Oregon.

wootenMelissa Wooten is an associate professor of sociology. She joined the faculty at the university in 2007 after serving as a postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth College. Dr. Wooten is a graduate of Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. She holds a Ph.D. in management and organizations from the University of Michigan.
