Four Women Promoted to Full Professor at the University of Georgia

ungThe University of North Georgia in Dahlonega has announced the promotion of four women to full professor.

ElisaCarlsonElisa Carlson was named professor of theatre and granted tenure. She joined the faculty in 2010 after teaching at the University of Minnesota and Emory University in Atlanta. Professor Carlson is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a master of fine arts degree in acting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Millard-TerrieTerrie Millard was appointed professor of physical therapy. Dr. Millard is a board certified pediatric physical therapist. She joined the faculty at the university in 2005. Professor Millard is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in physical therapy from Emory University.

Taylor_ElaineElaine Taylor was promoted to full professor of nursing. Dr. Taylor is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who has been on the university’s faculty since 2001. Professor Taylor graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. She holds a master’s degree from Emory University and a doctor in health sciences from Nova Southeastern University.

Karen Briggs was named professor of mathematics.

The new provosts are Barbara Rodriguez at the University of New Mexico, Bridget Chalk at Manhattan University in New York, and Jaci Lederman at Vincennes University in Indiana. All three women had been serving as their university's interim provost.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
