Sherry Simpson, an associate professor in the department of creative writing and literary arts at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, has been selected to receive the 2015 John Burroughs Medal. The medal is awarded by the John Burroughs Association to the author of a distinguished book on natural history.
Professor Simpson will be honored at the association’s annual meeting in April for her book Dominion of Bears: Living With Wildlife in Alaska (University Press of Kansas, 2013).
Professor Simpson holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.
