Four Women Honored With Awards From National Organizations

yehleKaren Yehle, an associate professor in the School of Nursing at Purdue University, received the Excellence and Innovation and Teaching Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. She received the award at a conference meeting in San Diego.

Dr. Yehle is a graduate of Purdue University-Calumet in Hammond Indiana. She earned a master’s degree at DePaul University in Chicago and a doctorate from Touro International University.

fea-fisherStacey Fisher, assistant director for student activities at the University of Rochester, received the Joseph H. Benedict Award from the Association of College Unions International. The award honors professionals with 5 to 10 years of experience in student activities for outstanding leadership, volunteer service, and activism.

Fisher joined the staff at the University of Rochester in 2007. She is a graduate of Ohio University and is studying for a master’s degree in human development at the University of Rochester.

schmidArlene Schmid, associate professor of occupational therapy at Colorado State University, received the 2014 Mitchell Rosenthal Award from the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to rehabilitation medicine through ongoing research.

Dr. Schmid earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. She holds a Ph.D. in rehabilitation science from the University of Florida.

vittumPatricia J. Vittum, a professor in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts, was selected to receive the 2015 Green Section Award from the United States Golf Association. The award honors distinguished service to the game of golf through research on turfgrass.

Professor Vittum joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts in 1980. She is a graduate of the University of Wooster in Ohio and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
