Eight Women in New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

leinenSeinquis Leinen is the new assistant director of admission at North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Leinen is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, where she majored in educational administration. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

KorobovaNadiaNadia Korobova was appointed executive director for international education at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She was assistant director of international programs at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Rapids. Dr. Korobova is also an adjunct instructor in social sciences at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.

Dr. Korobova earned her bachelor’s degree in the Ukraine. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a doctorate in educational leadership from Iowa State University.

nyree-grayNyree Gray was named chief civil rights officer and Title IX coordinator at Claremont McKenna College in California. She was an associate professor of law and dean of students and diversity affairs at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.

Gray is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the Southwestern Law School.

dharmPratima Dharm is the inaugural Hindu chaplain at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She was the first Hindu chaplain in the U.S. Army. A native of Mumbai, India, she came the United States in 2001.

Dharm is a graduate of Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University in Mumbai. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Annamalai University in India and a master’s degree in theology from Ashland Seminary in Ohio.

haricombeLorraine J. Haricombe was appointed vice provost and director of libraries at the University of Texas at Austin. She will take on her new role on February 1. She is currently dean of libraries at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Haricombe is a graduate of the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. She holds a master of library and information science degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.

Nilanjana_DasguptaNilanjana Dasgupta was named director of faculty equity and inclusion in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts. She is a professor of psychological and brain sciences at the university.

Professor Dasgupta is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in social psychology from Yale University.

SaundersMarthaMartha Saunders was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating office of the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Since 2013, Dr. Saunders has served as provost at the university. She will continue in the role of provost. Dr. Saunders is the former president of the University of Southern Mississippi and former chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Dr. Saunders is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where she majored in French. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in communication theory and research from Florida State University.

GwenGorzelskyGwen Gorzelsky was named executive director of the Institute for Learning and Teaching at Colorado State University. She was an associate professor of English and director of the composition program at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Dr. Gorzelsky is the author of The Language of Experience: Literate Practices and Social Change (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2005). She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Pittsburgh.

Caroline Attardo Genco Named the First Woman President of the University at Buffalo

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
