Three University Women Named Association Presidents

lemmonmarjeMarjorie F.B. Lemmon, risk manager in the Office of Risk Management at Yale University, was elected president of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association. The international organization represents more than 2,000 members at 570 colleges and universities around the world.

Lemmon has been on the staff at Yale since 2003. Previously, she was the risk manager for Ann Taylor stores. Lemmon is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and earned an MBA at the University of Hartford.

Marieke_PuymbroeckMarieke Van Puymbroeck, associate professor and coordinator of the therapeutic recreation program at Clemson University in South Carolina, was named president of the National Academy of Recreation Therapists. Dr. Van Puymbroeck serves as associate editor of the Journal of Leisure Research, the American Journal of Recreation Therapy, and the Therapeutic Recreation Journal.

Dr. Puymbroeck is a graduate of Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in rehabilitation science from the University of Florida.

lisadfcLisa DeFrank-Cole, director of the Leadership Studies Program at West Virginia University, was named chair-elect of the Women’s Leadership Affinity Group, an organization of the International Leadership Association. She will serve as chair-elect for one year and then become chair in November 2014.

Dr. DeFrank-Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and a master’s degree in higher educational administration from West Virginia University. She earned an educational doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh.
