Rebecca Toghiani, professor emerita of chemical engineering at Mississippi State University in Starkville, died earlier this month. She was 56 years old. Professor Toghiani retired from teaching about 18 months ago due to illness but she continued to lecture on campus. She was granted emerita status in July 2013.
Dr. Toghiani taught at Mississippi State for nearly a quarter of a century. She held bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Jason Keith, professor and chair of the department of chemical engineering at the university stated, “Her class was never the easiest, yet it was highly rated among our students. She served the department, college, and university with passion.”
