Fourteen Women in New Higher Education Administrative Positions

Dr.-Yvette-Underdue-Murph-copyYvette Underdue Murph was appointed vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has been serving as associate vice president for student affairs, enrollment management, and diversity at Mississippi Valley State University. She was also the interim director of the Center for Excellence in Student Learning at MVSU.

Dr. Underdue Murph holds a master’s degree from Cambridge College and a doctorate in public administration from the University of La Verne in Southern California.

Lindquist-dorrLisa Lindquist-Dorr was named an associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama. When she begins her new role, Dr. Lingquist-Dorr will oversee the college’s social sciences division. An associate professor of history, Dr. Lindquist-Dorr joined the faculty at the university in 2000.

Dr. Lindquist-Dorr is a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Virginia.

DaggettCathy Daggett was promoted to comptroller at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. She was director of financial reporting and analysis. Daggett has been on the staff at the university for 14 years.

Daggett is a 1994 graduate of Fitchburg State University and is a certified public accountant.

cho-hHyunyi Cho, a professor of communication at Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana, was named associate dean for research and graduate education at the university.

Dr. Cho’s current research focuses on health risk communication. She is a graduate of Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in mass media from Michigan State University.

Hernandez-RachRachelle Hernandez is the new associate vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Minnesota. Since June 2012 she has been the interim director of the Office of Admissions at the university and has served on the admissions staff for nearly 20 years.

Hernandez holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in human resource development from the University of Minnesota.

pam_riesPamela Ries was appointed director of the Realizing Educational and Career Hopes (REACH) program at the University of Iowa. The program is a two-year, certificate program for young adults with learning disabilities. Dr. Ries is a clinical associate professor in the university’s College of Education.

Dr. Ries holds an educational doctorate from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

rigglemanNicole Riggleman is the new director of development for the West Virginia University Alumni Association. She has been serving as the assistant director of development for the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at the university.

Riggleman holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University.

HoSShuk-Mei Ho was named director of the Cincinnati Cancer Center, a collaboration of the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Ho holds the Jacob G. Schmidiapp Chair of Environmental Health at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Dr. Ho holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong.

cawyrCarol Stringer Cawyer is the new director of institutional research and planning at Langston University in Oklahoma. Dr. Cawyer is a former official of the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation.

Dr. Cawyer is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. She holds a doctorate in communication and higher educational administration from the University of Oklahoma.

TysusJacksonTysus D. Jackson was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Talladega College in Alabama. For the past five years she has served as director of development for the Child Health Advocacy Institute of the Children’s Hospital Foundation at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She is the former director of development for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech.

Jackson is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management and philanthropy from Indiana University.

andrea_shapiro_davisAndrea Shapiro Davis was named associate vice chancellor for corporate, foundation, and major gifts development for the City University of New York. She has been serving as executive director of the Mayor’s Office of Appointments and executive director of the New York City Commission on Women’s Issues. She is the former director of development for the CUNY School of Law. She will begin her new duties in November.

Davis is a graduate of Queens College and the Hofstra University School of Law.

lykesHeather Lyke was named vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. She was the senior associate athletic director at Ohio State University. She has served in athletics administration at Ohio State for the past 15 years.

Lyke is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Akron School of Law.

KWilliamsKeisha Williams was appointed director of learning and organization development in the office of human resources at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Since 2007 she has been executive director for university organizational and professional development at Virginia Tech.

Williams is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina Central University and is pursuing a Ph.D. in public administration and policy studies at Virginia Tech.

Dr.Kate-Brooks.-Katharine Brooks was named executive director for personal and career development at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the liberal arts career services director at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Brooks is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and a doctorate in educational psychology from West Virginia University.
