Rashmi Bansal, professor of neuroscience at the University of Connecticut Health Science Center, has been selected to receive the Javits Neuroscience Investigator Award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Professor Bansal was honored for her work on neurodegenerative diseases. The award, which comes with a seven-year grant to continue her research, is named after Jacob Javits, a U.S. senator from New York who suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Dr. Bansal holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lucknow University in India. She earned a Ph.D. at the Central Drug Research Institute in India.
