Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut, has appointed four women to key leadership positions. The university, founded in 1890, enrolls about 4,800 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. Women make up 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.
Jane Bailey was promoted to provost. Since 2010, she has been serving as dean of the School of Education. Dr. Bailey is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta. She holds a master’s degree from San Diego State University and an educational doctorate from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Jill Buban was named dean of the School of Education. She joined the university in 2012 as academic program manager in the master of education degree program. Buban is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and is completing work on an educational doctorate at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Elizabeth Johnson was appointed dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. She has been serving as acting dean. Dr. Johnson joined the university in 2006 as an associate professor of environmental science. She is a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where she majored in earth and environmental science. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in plant and soil sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Veronica Montalvo was promoted to senior vice president of enrollment management. She was vice president of enrollment management. She joined the admissions office of the university in 2005. A graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, she earned an MBA at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
Dr. Bear, a longtime leader and advocate for international public health, is the new leader of Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University-affiliated global health organization dedicated to improving the health and lives of women and families around the world.
Dr. Fleuriet comes to her new role from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she has been serving as vice provost for honors education and a professor of anthropology.
Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
