Sonya Stephens has been appointed dean of faculty at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Her appointment is effective in July. Dr. Stephens currently is vice provost for undergraduate education at Indiana University in Bloomington. She is the former chair of the department of French and Italian at Indiana University and has served on the faculty at the University of London and the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Stephens holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in French from the University of Cambridge. She earned a master’s degree in French studies at the University of Montreal.
Laurie McCauley was named dean of the School of Dentistry at the University of Michigan. She has been serving as the William K. and Mary Anne Najjar Professor of Periodontics in the university’s School of Dentistry and as a professor of pathology at the university’s medical school. She has served on the university’s faculty since 1992.
Dr. McCauley earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, a doctorate in dentistry and a Ph.D. in veterinary pathobiology, all from Ohio State University.
