Three Women Named Distinguished Professors in the State University of New York System

new-SUNY-logoThe board of trustees of the State University of New York has announced the appointment of eight faculty members to distinguished ranks. Three of the new appointments went to women.

Joanna B. Chrzanowski, a professor of English at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, was named a Distinguished Teaching Professor. She has been on the faculty at the college for 32 years.

Dr. Chrzanowski holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the State University of New York and a Ph.D. from Syracuse University.

GaffneyEElizabeth Gaffney, a professor of English at Westchester Community College, was also named a Distinguished Teaching Professor. She has served on the faculty at the college for 20 years.

Professor Gaffney holds a Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Mary Beth Orrange is a professor of mathematics at Erie Community College. She has been on the faculty there for more than 30 years. She was named a Distinguished Service Professor for her efforts to redesign mathematics remedial education and retention programs.

Professor Orrange holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University at Buffalo.

The three women named to provost positions are Nancy Marchand-Martella at the University of Northern Colorado, Lise Youngblade at Colorado State University, and Randi Storch at Western Oregon University.

The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
