Illuminato is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Stephanie McMahon, chair of the division of painting, was promoted to associate professor. Her abstract works are often done on shaped panels or on paper that has been cut and manipulated.
