Dr. Sortino comes to her new role after nearly a decade with Gwynedd Mercy University in Pennsylvania, where she most recently served as dean of the School of Business and Education.
For the past sixth months, McCormick has served as interim president of the Maryland Institute College of Art. Prior to her interim appointment, she spent six years as the first woman president of Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.
The women appointed to dean positions are Jenna Shim at the University of Wyoming, Pamela McCauley at Widener University, Susan Kelly-Weeder at George Washington University, Pamela Slaven-Lee at Marymount University, Cheryl Blackman at Bowie State University, Amy Shapiro at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Marie Bukowski at Wichita State University.
The nine women named to dean positions are Arpana G. Inman, Malin Pereira, Twinette Johnson, Nicole Becker Hoerschelmann, Sherry Ryan, Janelle L. West, Kendra Hall-Kenyon, Dara N. Byrne, and Amy Lynn Seybert.
For the past five years, Dr. Robertson has been serving as a professor of history and provost and vice president for academic affairs at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Earlier, she served as dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.
Cecilia M. McCormick, who became the first woman president of Elizabethtown College in July 2019, cited the time requirements associated with the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic during her brief tenure as president and her desire to focus on her personal and family life as the reasons for her departure.
Currently, McCormick serves as vice provost for academic strategy and special programs at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Earlier in her career, she was chief of staff to the senior vice president for finance and administration and chief operating officer at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Dr. Susan Looney joined the staff of Reading Area Community College in 2014 as dean of instruction before being promoted in 2015 to provost and senior vice president of academic affairs.
Dr. Scalise-Smith has been serving as dean of the College of Health Professions at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights. Earlier, she was vice president of the School for Online & Extended Studies and External Partnerships at Utica College in New York.
Rosalie M. Mirenda, president of Neumann University in Ashton, Pennsylvania, since 1996, has announced that she will step down from her post on June 30, 2017. During her tenure as president, the campus has grown from 14 to 68 acres and enrollments have more than tripled.
