Dr. Basden Arnold comes to Kutztown University from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs for the past three years. She is also a professor of communication at the university.
Here is this week’s roundup of women who have been appointed to new administrative positions at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
Taking on new administrative duties are Kittie Pain at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, Amy Diamond at the University of Southern California, Jovette Dew at Oklahoma State University, Donna Gustafson at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Melba V. Pearson at Florida International University in Miami.
The honorees are Jennifer Doudna of the University of California, Berkeley, Fay S. Adams of the University of Tennessee, Rebecca U. Thorpe of the University of Washington, Heather Leah Ryerson Fountain of Kutztown University, Rebecca Richards-Kortum of Rice University, Allison Beese of Penn State, and Rita Dove of the University of Virginia.
Dr. Bieber has been with the college since 1981 and has been serving as interim president since December. Previously, she was senior vice president of administrative services. She holds a doctorate from Capella University.
The complaints allege violations of Title IX resulting in "an ongoing failure of these universities to provide equal athletic opportunity to their students and, in some cases, equal financial assistance and recruitment."
