The new athletics directors are Desiree Reed-Francois at the University of Missouri at Columbia, Alecia Shields-Gadson at Delaware State University, Jacquelyn Jeanne “JJ†Antoine at Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Tammy A. Bagby at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Howard-Vital became Cheyney University’s eleventh and first woman president in 2007. She served in that role until 2014. After stepping down as president of Cheyney Univerity, Dr. Howard-Vital was named provost at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. A year later, she was appointed interim president.
Dr. Johnston served as the second chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Kearney from 1993 to 2002. Previously, she was executive vice president and provost at DePaul University in Chicago.
In 2016, Dr. Michelle Howard-Vital was chosen to serve as executive vice president and provost at Florida Memorial University. From 2007 to 2014, she was president of Cheyney University in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Dawkins has been serving as interim president since last August. Dr. Dawkins became provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bennett College in December 2015 after serving a similar role at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
From 2007 to 2014, Dr. Michelle Howard-Vital was president of Cheyney University in Pennsylvania. Earlier in her career, she served as interim chancellor of Winston-Salem State University and as associate vice president for the University of North Carolina System.
Professor Andy joined the staff at Temple University in 1974 as director of the Joint Recreation Resources Project. Three years later, she joined the faculty. She taught at Temple for 30 years.
Michelle R. Howard-Vital, the 11th president of Cheyney University in Pennsylvania, has announced she will retire on July 31. Phyllis Worthy Dawkins, who has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs for less than one year, has been named acting president.
The complaints allege violations of Title IX resulting in "an ongoing failure of these universities to provide equal athletic opportunity to their students and, in some cases, equal financial assistance and recruitment."

Dr. Dawkins was provost, senior vice president for academic affairs, and professor of education at Dillard University in New Orleans. Earlier she held several positions at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
