Delores Andy, a longtime faculty member and professor emerita at Temple University in Philadelphia, died last month in Abington, Pennsylvania, from liver disease. She was 79 years old.
Professor Andy was a native of Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and earned a master’s degree at Temple University.
Professor Andy joined the staff at Temple University in 1974 as director of the Joint Recreation Resources Project. Three years later, she joined the faculty as an assistant professor of recreation and leisure studies. From 1988 to 1992, Professor Andy took leave from her faculty post to serve as commissioner of the Philadelphia Recreation Department. She returned to Temple in 1992 as a professor of sport and recreation management. She retired in 2004 and was named professor emerita.
