Three Women Honored With Prestigious Awards

Abigail Richards, an assistant professor of engineering at Montana State University, received the Outstanding Advising Award from the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi. Dr. Richards joined the Montana State faculty in 2007. Her research is focused on using microbes to clean contaminated soil.

Dr. Richards holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Washington State University.

Bonita Boyd, professor of flute at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Flute Association. From 1971 to 1984, she was the principal flutist for the Rochester Philharmonic. She joined the faculty at the University of Rochester in 1977 and, beginning in 1983, has toured the world giving solo concerts.

Maja Djukic, an assistant professor in the College of Nursing at New York University, was named a Nurse Faculty Scholar by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She will receive a three-year, $350,000 award to support her research on improving the work environment for nurses.

Dr. Djukic holds a doctorate from the College of Nursing at NYU.
