Three Women Named to Faculty Positions

Ariel Alexander has joined the music department faculty at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. She will teach classes on music appreciation, popular song writing, and the history of rock.

An accomplished saxophonist, Dr. Alexander is a performer, composer, educator, and entrepreneur. She regularly records for television and film soundtracks.

Dr. Alexander is a graduate of Indiana University. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern California.

Marie Thursby was named Regent Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has been serving in the Hal and John Smith Chair of Entrepreneurship in the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech. She is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economics Research. She previously taught at Purdue University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Syracuse University, and North Carolina State University.

Professor Thursby is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Moon-Sook Park was appointed assistant professor of music at the University of Arkansas. She will teach studio voice to students in all levels of the university. Since 2003, she has taught at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida.

Dr. Park is a graduate of Seoul National University in Korea. She earned a doctorate of musical arts from the University of Cincinnati.
