Here is news of recent grants for higher education programs relating to women:
”¢ Norfolk State University in Virginia received a $800,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to create a women’s center on campus. The center will be open to both students and members of the surrounding community.
Ӣ Central Connecticut State University in New Britain received a five-year, $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for a program to increase the number of women and minority students who pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Ӣ The College of Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center received a five-year, $3.2 million grant to study obesity among rural women in 12 counties in Nebraska. The study will employ three different intervention methods in an effort to help the women lose 10 percent of their body weight. The goal is to determine which intervention method works best in helping women lose weight.
”¢ The Financial Women’s Association of New York Educational Fund received a $200,000 grant from BMO Capital Markets. The fund will use the funds to support college scholarship programs at Baruch College.
