Britt Rios-Ellis Returns to California State University System as President of the Stanislaus Campus

Britt Rios-Ellis has been named the thirteenth president of California State University, Stanislaus. She will assume her presidency on July 1.

California State University, Stanislaus enrolls about 9,000 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate students. Women make up two-thirds of the undergraduate student body.

Currently, Dr. Rios-Ellis serves as provost and executive vice president of academic affairs at Oakland University in Michigan. Prior to joining the Oakland University administration in 2021, Dr. Rios-Ellis had a long career in the California State University system. In 1994, she joined the faculty in the department of health science at California State University, Long Beach where she taught for the next two decades. During this time, she served as the founding director of the Center for Latino Community Health, Evaluation, and Leadership Training. In 2014, she transitioned to California State University, Monterey Bay to serve as the founding dean of the College of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Rios-Ellis is a three-time graduate of the University of Oregon where she received her bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish, a master’s degree in health and fitness management, and Ph.D. in community health.
