Yamileth Bazan Named President of Union Adventist University in Nebraska

Yamileth Bazan has been named the thirtieth president of Union Adventist University in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her presidency is effective July 1, which coincides with the school’s official name transition from Union College to Union Adventist University.

Union Adventist University enrolls about 600 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The undergraduate study body is roughly 60 percent women.

Dr. Bazan has nearly two decades of experience in higher education leadership. Currently, she serves as associate dean for student affairs for the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University in California. Prior to her current role, she served as vice president of student life at La Sierra University in Riverside, California, from 2007 to 2021. During this time, she taught graduate-level courses in educational leadership and led a first-year seminar course in college success.

Dr. Bazan holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in administration and leadership from La Sierra University. She received a Ph.D. in leadership from Andrews University in Michigan.
