Three Women Named to Prestigious Faculty Positions

Holly Lau was appointed chair of the department of theatre and dance at the University of Memphis. She has taught at the university since 1991. She was promoted to associate professor in 1997 and full professor in 2007. When she was named director of the dance program in 1999, there were only 12 students. Four years later, there were 32 students who were majoring in dance at the university.
Lau is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Southern Maine. She holds a master of fine arts degree from Ohio State University.
Arlene S. Kanter was named the Bond, Schoeneck and King Distinguished Professor at the Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, New York. Professor Kanter is the founder and director of the Disability Law and Policy Program at the law school, which offers the nation’s first joint degree program in law and disability studies.
Professor Kanter is a graduate of Trinity College and the New York University School of Law. She also holds a master’s degree in law from Georgetown University.
Suzan Kardong-Edgren was named to the Jody DeMeyer Endowed Chair at the Boise State University School of Nursing. She was an assistant professor of nursing at Washington State University-Spokane.
Professor Kardong-Edgren is a graduate of the University of Nevada at Reno. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in health education from Texas Woman’s University.
