Elizabeth MacLeod Walls Selected as 14th President of Washington & Jefferson College

Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania has appointed Elizabeth MacLeod Walls to serve as the college’s fourteenth president. She will assume her presidency in June.

Washington & Jefferson College enrolls just less than 1,200 undergraduate students, 48 percent of whom are women.

Since 2016, Dr. MacLeod Walls has served as president of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Prior to her current role, she served as professor of English and dean of the University College at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Earlier in her career, she served in various administrative roles at Bryan College of Health Sciences in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Dr. MacLeod Walls graduated from Hiram College in Ohio where she received her bachelor’s degree in English and history. She earned her Ph.D. in English literature and classical rhetoric from Texas Christian University.

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
