Laura Arnold Leibman has been appointed professor of the Effron Center for the Study of America. She has been with the faculty at Reed College in Portland, Oregon since 1997, currently serving as the Kenan Professor of English and Humanities. She is the author of Once We Were Slaves: The Extraordinary Journey of a Multi-Racial Jewish Family (Oxford University Press, 2021), The Art of the Jewish Family: A History of Women in Early New York in Five Objects (Bard Graduate Center, 2020), and Jews in the Americas: 1176-1826 (Routledge Historical Resources, 2017)
Dr. Leibman graduated from the University of California Davis where she majored in English. She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of California Los Angeles.
Lydia Lynch has been named professor of microbiology and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Princeton Branch. Since 2013, she has taught at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard University. Dr. Lynch’s research specializes in immunometabolism.
Dr. Lynch holds a bachelor’s degree in cell biology and genetics and a Ph.D in immunology from University College Dublin.
Rhacel Salazar Parreñas has been named professor of gender and sexuality studies and sociology. Most recently, she served as the Florence Everline Professor of Sociology and professor of sociology and gender studies at the University of Southern California. She is the author of numerous books including Unfree: Migrant Domestic Workers in Arab States (Stanford University Press, 2021), Illicit Flirtations: Labor, Migration, and Sex Trafficking in Tokyo (Stanford University Press, 2011) and The Force of Domesticity: Filipina Migrants and Globalization (Stanford University Press, 2008).
Dr. Parreñas received her bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies, as well as a master’s degree and Ph.D. in comparative ethnic studies from the University of California Berkeley.
