Three Women Who Have Been Selected to Serve as Deans

Asha Anumolu was appointed dean of nursing and allied healthcare at Florence-Darlington Technical College in South Carolina. She was the dean of nursing at West Georgia Technical College. From 1994 to 2008, Anumolu taught at Georgia Southern University.

“I am very honored and humbled to have this opportunity to serve Florence-Darlington Technical College and the community as dean of nursing and allied healthcare,” Anumolu said. “I’m so excited to join the team and to contribute to its mission and vision.”

Anumolu holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Maryland. She earned a master’s degree in nursing at Georgia Southern University.

Charla Miertschin is the new dean of the College of Science and Engineering at Abilene Christian University in Texas. She taught chemistry at Winona University in Minnesota for 30 years before spending the past 11 years as dean of the College of Science and Engineering at the university.

“One thing I always want to emphasize is the great work of the faculty and students here that are really what I’m most proud of,” Dr. Miertschin said. “It’s their accomplishments that we’re going to build on and make this an even greater place.”

Dr. Miertschin is a graduate of Abilene Christian University. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Texas A&M University.

Katie Kraushaar was named dean of library and information services at Quincy University in Illinois. In May of 2022, she joined the Quincy University community as information literacy and electronic resources librarian. Earlier, she was assistant manager and community engagement librarian for the Quincy Public Library.

“The opportunity to serve as dean of Brenner Library is humbling. To be entrusted with the materials and services that are the foundation of Quincy University’s academic programs is both a task and a goal,” said Kraushaar. “It is exciting, and downright terrifying, to know the impact a good experience in the library can have for each person at Quincy University. I will do my best to welcome, guide, and instruct, and to have fun along the way.”

Kraushaar is a graduate of Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois, where she majored in literature. holds a master of library & information services degree from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign,
