In Memoriam: Sharon Ann Zimmerman Wilson, 1953-2023

Sharon Ann Zimmerman Wilson, a long-time faculty member at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, died on June 24. She was 70 years old and had suffered from cancer.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she attended Villa Angela High School and Cleveland State University. After taking time off to raise a family, Wilson earned a master’s degree in social work at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

After working as a licensed social worker, she joined the faculty at Ursuline College in 1990. There she taught hundreds of students who went on to be social workers. She retired after serving on the faculty for 33 years. Her scholarship focused on effective field education models, ethical practice, and use of professional supervision to improve service delivery and client outcomes.

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
