Olga F. JarriÌn Montaner has been appointed to the Hunterdon Endowed Professorship in Nursing Research at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her research focuses on the intersection of gerontological nursing and health services. Dr. JarriÌn Montaner, who joined the faculty in 2016, is director of the Multicultural Nurse Leadership Institute at the School of Nursing and also directs the Community Health and Aging Outcomes Laboratory within the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research.
Dr. JarrÃn Montaner earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in nursing science from the University of Connecticut.
Shadi Nazarian is the inaugural holder of the H. Ralph Hawkins, FAIA, Chair in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a cross-disciplinary scholar with expertise in the development and optimization of construction materials and technologies. Since 2012, Nazarian has been an associate research professor in the Stuckeman School’s department of architecture at Pennsylvania State University.
Nazarian holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from the University of Minnesota. She earned a master of architecture degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Jessica Larsen was appointed the Carol and John Cromer ’63 Family Endowed Associate Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Clemson University in South Carolina. She joined the faculty at Clemson in 2017. Her research focuses on the field of polymeric nanotechnology, working to develop materials that respond to diseases in the central nervous system.
Dr. Larsen is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in chemical engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Auburn University in Alabama.
Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
The new presidents are Laurie A. Boeding at the Technical College of the Lowcountry and Melissa Frank-Alston at Northeastern Technical College. Both women are expected to begin their presidencies on July 1.
Dr. McEwen comes to her new appointment following four years as president and vice chancellor of Victoria University in the University of Toronto. Earlier, she served in several leadership roles at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She received some of her education in the United States.
The new provosts are Barbara Rodriguez at the University of New Mexico, Bridget Chalk at Manhattan University in New York, and Jaci Lederman at Vincennes University in Indiana. All three women had been serving as their university's interim provost.
Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
