Four Women Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Responsibilities

Cheryl Neale-McFall was recently appointed the associate provost for research and creative activities for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. She is a professor of counselor education at the university.

Dr. Neale-McFall is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in child and family development from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in counselor education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Margie Lee will be the new associate dean for research and graduate studies at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been head of the college’s department of biomedical sciences and pathobiology since 2018. Dr. Lee also served as interim director of the Animal Cancer Care and Research Center, a teaching hospital and translational research center of the college located in Roanoke, during the past year.

Dr. Lee is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where she majored in biology. She earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in medical microbiology from the University of Georgia.

Amy Cook, a professor of English, has been named vice provost for academic affairs at Stony Brook University in New York. She has been serving as director of the Academy of Civic Life and previously was associate dean for research and innovation in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is the author of three books including Building Character: The Art and Science of Casting (University of Michigan Press, 2018).

Dr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in theatre directing and psychology. She earned a Ph.D. in theatre and dance at the University of California, San Diego.

Karen Jones, a longtime faculty member and administrator at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, has been appointed associate dean and director of the Graduate School. She joined the university’s department of animal science, food, and nutrition in 1999.

Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in veterinary physiology from Texas A&M University.

Rhonda McEwen Appointed President of the University of Victoria

Dr. McEwen comes to her new appointment following four years as president and vice chancellor of Victoria University in the University of Toronto. Earlier, she served in several leadership roles at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She received some of her education in the United States.
