Toddi Steelman, the Stanback Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, has been appointed to a new leadership position overseeing the Duke Climate Commitment. As vice president and vice provost for climate and sustainability, Dr. Steelman will be the chief administrative and academic officer in charge of advancing the Duke Climate Commitment and will lead the newly created Office of Climate and Sustainability. She will step down as dean to take on her new duties on July 1.
Before becoming dean in 2018, Dr. Steelman served as the first permanent executive director of the University of Saskatchewan’s School of Environment and Sustainability. Earlier she served for 11 years on the faculty in the department of forestry and environmental resources at North Carolina State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University, a master of public administration degree from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. from Duke University.
Sheria D. Rowe, an assistant dean and professor in the School of Business at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, was granted tenure. In addition to her academic interests, she is founder and president of several start-up firms.
Dr. Rowe is a graduate of St. Augustine’s University, where she majored in accounting. She holds a master’s degree in information science from North Carolina Central University and a Ph.D. in business administration from Argosy University.
Borislava Iltcheva has joined the faculty of the School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a visiting assistant professor during the 2022-23 academic year and previously taught at Indiana University.
Dr. Iltcheva has a bachelor’s degree from the Bulgarian National Academy. She earned master’s and doctoral degrees in violin performance from Louisiana State University.
Heather DuBois is an assistant professor of peace studies, trauma, and spirituality in the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College. She previously taught at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts.
Dr. DuBois is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. She holds a master’s degree in conflict resolution from the University of Bradford in England and a second master’s degree in theology and ethics from Fordham University in New York. Dr. DuBois earned a Ph.D. in peace studies and theology from the University of Notre Dame.
Melissa Holt, an associate professor of counseling psychology and associate dean for faculty affairs at the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development at Boston University, has been given the added duties of director of the Kilachand Honors College at the university. Dr. Holt is a licensed psychologist, specializing in patients with trauma and eating disorders.
Dr. Holt holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
