Prior to her new role, Dr. Rodriguez-McClellon was the vice president of community relations and governmental affairs at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh. She has a robust background in higher education, including service as the first African American president of Rochester Community and Technical College in Minnesota.

The four women appointed to new positions are McLean Fahnestock at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, Julia Carboni at the William D. Ruckelshaus Center — a collaboration between Washington State University and the University of Washington, Emily Pritchard at Florida State University, and Shirlkeymu L. Winston at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The women assigned to new roles are Toddi Steelman at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, Sheria D. Taking on new administrative duties are Nadine Wong at Duke University, Jamilyn Penn at Highline College in Des Moines, Washington, Stephanie Droker at the Peralta Community College District in Oakland, California, Liudmila Sergeevna Mainzer at the University of Wyoming, Leslie Rodriguez-McClellon at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Melissa Yuen at the Syracuse University Museum of Art.

Taking on new administrative roles are Lizzie Smith at the University of Alabama, Samantha Rogers at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Suzanne Caccamese at Towson University in Maryland, Carolyn Carter at St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, Madelyn Jones at the University of Arkansas, Demitra Kirby at Middlebury College in Vermont, and Christa Shileds at Alverno College in Milwaukee.

Dr. McPhail has been serving as a professor of practice at the John E. Roueche Center for Community College Leadership at Kansas State University. Earlier, she was director of the Community College Leadership Doctoral Program at Morgan State University in Baltimore and president of Cypress College in California.

For the second time this year, Maria A. Lumpkin was named interim president of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She served as interim president for several months earlier this year before Irving Pressley McPhail took office as the university's twelfth president on July 15. Dr. McPhail died on October 14, from complications relating to the COVID-19 virus.

In October 2019, Dr. Lumpkin was named chief operating officer at Saint Augustine's University. Previously, she served as the special assistant to the president, and as the inaugural executive director of student retention and the center for scholar communities at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.
