Five Women Scholars Who Are Taking on New Assignments

Tanya Paul is a new assistant professor of accounting in the business school at the University of California, Berkeley. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the in Connecticut. Her research is focused on understanding the effectiveness of disclosure regulation/standard-setting and enforcement, especially within financial institutions.

Dr. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a Ph.D. in accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Margaret Sova McCabe, senior adviser for strategic projects and professor of law at the University of Arkansas, has been given the added duties of interim vice chancellor for research and innovation at the university. From 2018 to 2021, she was dean of the university’s law school. Earlier, she was a professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law.

Professor McCabe holds a bachelor’s degree from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She earned a juris doctorate from the University of Maine.

Micah Perks, a professor of literature and director of the creative writing program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is the new associate dean of faculty affairs at the university. Professor Perks is the author of two novels, a short story collection, a memoir, and many essays.

Professor Perks earned a bachelor’s degree and a master of fine arts degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

Sarah Millholland is a new assistant professor of physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was a NASA Sagan Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton University. Using orbital dynamics and theory, she investigates how gravitational interactions like tides, resonances, and spin dynamics influence the formation and evolution of planetary systems and shape observable exoplanet properties.

Dr. Millholland is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas. She earned a Ph.D. in physics at Princeton University.

Ann Wallace, a professor of English at New Jersey City University, has been named poet laureate of Jersey City, New Jersey. Dr. Wallace joined the faculty at the university in 2008 and was promoted to full professor in 2020. Earlier, she was director of the Writing Center at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

Dr. Wallace is a graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. She earned a master’s degree in women’s studies from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a Ph.D. in English from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
