Torie Jackson was appointed interim president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg. She will take office on July 1.
According to the most current data from the U.S. Department of Education, West Virginia University at Parkersburg enrolls just over 2,600 students. Women make up 64 percent of the student body.
Jackson has served in a variety of leadership roles at the university since 2004. Most recently she has been chief operating officer, executive vice president for institutional advancement, and president and CEO of the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Foundation. She also holds a faculty post as an associate professor of communication.
“I am both honored and humbled to be chosen to lead the institution that built me,” Jackson said. “With a true love for WVU-P, we will move forward with a focus on student success and continue to establish this college as a true community partner. We are a place where big dreams are welcomed and accomplished, and we will continue to be WVU Parkersburg Proud.”
Dr. Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a master’s degree in organizational communication, and a doctorate in higher education administration, all from West Virginia University.
