Six Women Assigned New Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Amanda Hellman has been named director of the Fine Arts Gallery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She will begin her new role on May 2. Hellman joins Vanderbilt from Emory University in Atlanta, where she served as the curator of African art at the Michael C. Carlos Museum.

Dr. Hellman is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She holds a master’s degree in art history from Williams College in Massachusetts, as well as a Ph.D. in art history and an MBA from Emory University.

Hope Stockton has been named assistant vice president for university outreach and professional and continuing education at Auburn University in Alabama. Stockton previously served as executive director for the Office of Professional & Continuing Education.

Stockton earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and history from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and a master’s degree in management from Troy University in Alabama.

Tamara Michel Josserand has been named vice president for development at the University of Washington. Most recently, she led advancement at the University of Redlands in California. Prior to that, she served as assistant dean of advancement for the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health.

Josseerand is a graduate of Connecticut College. She earned an MBA at the University of Chicago and a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.

Catherine Edmonds was named chief of staff to the chancellor of North Carolina Central University, effective May 1. She has been serving as deputy state superintendent for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Earlier in her career, Dr. Edmonds was director for Educational Leadership and Development and state director of the Principal Fellows Program for the University of North Carolina System.

Dr. Edmonds earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. She holds a master’s degree in school administration in educational leadership and a doctorate in educational administration from North Carolina State University.

Nicola Ziady will be the inaugural vice president for university communications and chief marketing officer at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Her appointment is effective on July 11. Ziady has been serving as chief marketing and communications officer at the University of Cincinnati.

Ziady earned a bachelor’s degree in computing from the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland.

Germaine Gross has been appointed vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Grinnell College in Iowa, effective July 1. She has been serving as chief business officer for the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Gross holds a bachelor’s degree in management with an accounting concentration from Tulane University. She earned an MBA at the University of Texas at Austin.
