University of Georgia Receives Archives of The League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters in Athens, Georgia, worked for nearly six decades on issues of public policy and voter education. The Athens chapter of the League of Women Voters was founded in 1948. It held its last meeting on March 23, 2006.
The organization has donated its archive of documents to the Richard B. Russell Library at the University of Georgia. The massive archive includes administrative files and correspondence, membership directories, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, photographs, campaign buttons and posters, and copies of the group’s newsletters.
