Four Universities Announce the Appointment of Women as Chief Diversity Officers

Jody C. Randall has been named the new vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She has been serving as the founding director for the Office of LGBTQIA Education & Engagement at Texas Tech University. She also serves as an adjunct lecturer in women’s and gender studies at the university.

Dr. Randall holds a bachelor’s degree in human services and a master’s degree in human development and leadership from Murray State University in Kentucky. She earned a doctorate in leadership and learning in organizations from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Andrea Cornett-Scott is the inaugural chief diversity officer at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, Virginia. She has been on the staff at the university for 25 years.

Rev. Cornett-Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Morris Brown College in Atlanta. She earned a master of divinity degree from Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio.

Marsha McGriff was named senior adviser to the president and chief diversity officer at the Univerity of Florida. She has been serving as associate vice president for inclusive excellence at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Earlier in her career, Dr. McGrif was director of student services and admissions at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Dr. McGriff holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tuskegee University in Alabama. She earned a doctorate in education in interdisciplinary leadership from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Crystal McCormick Ware was appointed the inaugural chief diversity officer and senior advisor to the president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, effective January 5. She has been serving as director of diversity and inclusion initiatives for the University of Pittsburgh library system.

McCormick Ware holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Duquesne University.
