Ann Stalter, professor and chair of nursing at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, received the 2021 Outstanding Contributions to Community/Public Health Nursing Research Award from the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators. She was honored for her efforts to promote quality and safety in nursing education and community and public health nursing.
Dr. Stalter was recognized for her research into applied systems thinking to manage COVID-19 decision-making in complex health care systems. The Association of Community Health Nursing Educators said that Professor Stalter’s scholarship has “significantly contributed to the knowledge in the field of community/public health nursing education” through her efforts to advance the science of systems thinking with descriptive studies, completing concept analyses and integrative reviews, and by contributing to the development of the systems awareness model.
Professor Stalter was also honored for her many contributions to ACHNE, including serving as the chair of its Research Committee. As an active ACHNE member, Dr. Stalter has also developed and published research priorities and evidence-based practice project priorities; produced preconference and plenary sessions; developed research mentoring groups to help committee members pursue research.
Dr. Stalter earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a master’s degree in nursing administration, and a master’s degree in education technology-health professions from Wright State University. She holds a Ph.D. in public health nursing from Ohio State University.
