Danielle Wilken Appointed President of the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut

Danielle Wilken was appointed the twelfth president of the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. The university was recently acquired by Goodwin University in East Hartford. The Bridgeport campus will retain its name and will have independent leadership. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Wilken has been serving as provost and dean of faculty at Goodwin University.

According to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education, the University of Bridgeport enrolls bout 3,200 undergraduate students and nearly 1,900 graduate students. Women make up 67 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead UB in this next chapter as we help our students grow both personally and professionally to achieve their goals,” said Dr. Wilken. “I look forward to working with members of our faculty, staff, and the City of Bridgeport to continue to make UB a supportive and diverse learning environment that serves the needs of our students and the community.”

Dr. Wilken earned bachelor’s degrees in clinical laboratory sciences and biology and a master’s degree in health care policy and management from Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hartford.
