New Administrative Roles for Six Women at Colleges and Universities

Debbie Snell was named executive director of athletics at Hawai‘i Pacific University, effective July 1. Since 2015, she was been the director of athletics at Holy Names University in Oakland, California.

Dr. Snell holds has a bachelor’s degree in physical education, a master’s degree in kinesiology, and a doctorate in higher education management, all from the University of Arkansas.

Karissa Morehouse was promoted to assistant superintendent and vice president of instruction at Merced College in California. She has been serving as dean of instruction, overseeing the Learning Resource Center, distance education, and prison education.

Morehouse earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in social sciences with an emphasis on career counseling at California State University, Chico.

Enku Gelaye was promoted to senior vice president and dean of campus life at Emory University in Atlanta. Since August 2019, she has been serving as vice president. Earlier, she was vice chancellor of student affairs and campus life at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Gelaye holds a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from the University of Georgia.

Elizabeth Boluch Wood will be the next vice president for advancement at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, She has been serving as the chief development officer and associate director for communications and strategic partnerships at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. Earlier, she was vice president for development at Princeton University.

Wood is a magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts.

Stephanie B. Frost was appointed senior vice president for development and alumni relations at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She spent the past seven years as the associate dean for external relations at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

A native of New Jersey, Frost is a graduate of Rutgers University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in theater arts and women’s studies. She holds a master’s degree in women’s history from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.

Virginia C. Robbins was named interim assistant dean of career services at the Syracuse Univerity College of Law in New York. She was a member of the law firm Bond, Schoeneck & King.

Robbins earned a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree from Middlebury College in Vermont.
