Carol A. Watson, director of the Law Library at the University of Georgia, has received the American Association of Law Libraries’ Hall of Fame Award. Established in 2009, this honor recognizes association members who have made significant, substantial and long-standing contributions to the profession of legal information management, including writing for legal publications, serving in AALL leadership roles, working with outside organizations on behalf of the profession or serving as an exceptional role model for colleagues.
In 1987, Watson began her professional career at the university’s law library. Twenty-three years later, she was named its director. Previously, she served as the associate director for information technology, supervised the law school’s IT team, and provided legal reference services. Watson is the past-chair of the American Association of Law Schools Section on Law Libraries and Legal Information.
Watson holds a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature, a master’s degree in education, and a law degree, all from the University of Georgia. She also earned a master of library and information science degree from Atlanta University.
