Mary Croughan Is the New Provost at the University of California, Davis

Mary S. Croughan is the new provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Croughan has been serving as a professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She previously served as vice president for research and economic development at UNLV from 2017 through 2019.

Before joining the faculty at UNLV in 2017, Professor Croughan had 30 years of experience in the University of California System. She served as executive director of the Research Grants Program Office in the university’s Office of the President from 2010 to 2017. From 1987 to 2010, Dr. Croughan served as a faculty member in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. During this period, she conducted research in reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, specifically examining health outcomes of nearly 52,000 women treated for infertility, and their partners and their children.

Professor Croughan holds a bachelor’s degree in community health from the University of California, Davis and a doctorate in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in Baltimore.
