Susan Karavolas has been appointed chief human resources officer at Union College in Schenectady, New York. Since 2016, Karavolas served as vice president of human resources at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Earlier, she was assistant deputy director of the Business Center for the New York State Office of General Services.
Karavolas holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.
Tonantzin Oseguera has been appointed to serve as the next vice president for student affairs at California State University, Fullerton, effective July 1. She joined the university in 2013 as dean of students and since 2016 has served as associate vice president for student affairs.
A native of Mexico City, Dr. Oseguera earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Colorado State University. She holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Southern California.
Cathy Liebowitz is the inaugural director of sustainability at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Liebowitz was the campus sustainability manager at Emerson College in Boston.
Liebowitz earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, and international education policy from the University of Maryland.

Smucker earned a bachelor’s degree in French and foreign affairs at the University of Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in creative writing from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Hutson is a 1990 graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Dr. Anastasiou holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in international studies from the University of South Carolina.
