Eight Women Who Have Been Appointed to New Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Jennifer Crewalk was named the associate director for undocumented students at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Crewalk previously served as co-director of Casa Hispanica, a living-learning community at the University of Pennsylvania.

Crewalk earned her master’s degree in intercultural communications from the University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She is currently completing doctoral work in educational psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Nicole Nimmons was appointed associate vice president for campus services at Boise State University in Idaho. Nimmons joined the staff at Boise State in 2005 and most recently served as executive director of campus services.

Nimmons holds a bachelor’s degree and an executive MBA from Boise State University.

Andrea Stapleton has accepted the position of vice president for mission integration at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Stapleton has been serving as a theology professor at Loyola University in Chicago and Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.

Dr. Stapleton is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she majored in psychology and education. She holds a master’s degree in theology from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and a Ph.D. in theology from Loyola University in Chicago.

Lisa McClinton has been named vice chancellor for business and finance at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. She will begin her new job on April 1. McClinton has been serving as associate vice chancellor for finance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.

McClinton is a graduate of Winston-Salem University, where she majored in accounting and management information systems. She holds a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

Sarah Armstrong was promoted to director of student-athlete academic support services at Virginia Tech. She was the assistant director. She has been on the staff since 2005. The service helps more than 500 student-athletes in 22 athletic programs at Virginia Tech.

Armstrong received a bachelor’s degree in human development, with communication and psychology minors and a master’s degree in health and physical education from Virginia Tech

Michelle Martin was named chief business officer and vice president for business and finance at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. She was the associate vice president for financial services and interim vice president for administration and finance at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Martin is a graduate of Norfolk State University in Virginia, where she majored in accounting. She holds an MBA from Troy University in Alabama.

Kelly Driscoll will be the next director of communications for the Division of Enrollment Management at Wayne State University in Detroit. Driscoll joins the division from the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, where she worked in the areas of student services and new student recruitment for the past eight years.

Driscoll is a graduate of Western Michigan University. She earned a master of fine arts degree in arts management from Wayne State University.

Sibby Anderson-Thompkins will serve as special advisor to the chancellor and provost for equity and inclusion and interim chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been serving as a special assistant to the vice chancellor for research and the director of the office of postdoctoral affairs at the university.

Dr. Anderson-Thompkins holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a master’s degree in educational research and a Ph.D. in educational policy studies from Georgia State University.
