Dr. Real served three years as president of Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, and 10 years as president of Siena Heights College (now University) in Adrian, Michigan. She also had a stint as acting president of the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska.
The three women stepping down from campus leadership positions are Kathleen McCartney, president of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Maryanne Stevens, president of the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry, chancellor and dean of the Altoona campus of Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Christine Pharr will become president of Mount Mary University on July 1, upon the retirement of Ellen Schwalbach who has led the educational institution since 2008. Dr. Pharr currently serves as vice president for alumnae and donor relations at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska.
