New Administrative Appointments for Eight Women at American Universities

Shantay Bolton was appointed deputy chief operating officer at Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Bolton will have oversight over human resources and enterprise risk functions. She has been on the staff at the university since 2017.

Dr. Bolton holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Alabama A&M University. She earned an MBA in corporate business from Florida International University and a Ph.D. in organizational psychology from Walden University.

Amanda Athey has been named director of graduate student support resources at Arizona State University. She is the former director of the Graduate School at the University of New Orleans.

Athey earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Orleans. She holds a master’s degree in comparative literature from the University of Georgia.

Vicki Hill has been appointed director of strategic and operational planning for the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State Univerity. She joined the staff at the university in 2015 and recently has been serving as project manager for the development of the division’s 2018-2024 strategic plan and 2019-2021 operational plan.

Hill earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Ohio State University. She holds a master’s degree in mathematics from York University in Toronto.

Jill Stratton will become assistant provost for experiential learning and associate dean for residential colleges at Vanderbilt University on June 1. She currently serves as associate dean for undergraduate residential learning in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Stratton holds a Ph.D. in ethical and creative leadership from the Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, as well as a master’s degree in higher education administration from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

Olabisi Ladeji Okubadejo was named the inaugural associate vice president of equal opportunity, affirmative action, and compliance at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She has been serving as chief diversity officer at the university since April 2019.

Okubadejo is a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. She earned her juris doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Deb Wells was promoted to director of the counseling center at the Mississippi University for Women. She joined the staff at the counseling center in 2017.

Dr. Wells is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She earned a master’s degree in community counseling and a doctorate in supervision and counselor education from Mississippi State University.

Simran Trana was named the inaugural associate vice president of the Innovation and Commercialization Office at Indiana University in Bloomington. She spent the past 10 years with Dow AgroSciences, now called Corteva Agriscience, the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont.

Trana holds a master’s degree in plant genetics from Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana, India, and a master of business administration from the University of Ottawa in Canada.

Paige Short has been named the new director of development for the University of South Dakota’s School of Health Sciences. She joined the staff at the university in 2017 after serving as a fundraiser for Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Short is a 2015 graduate of the University of South Dakota, where she majored in business administration with a minor in health sciences.
